Well there ya’ go

Posted under Merlife & festivals

5pm yesterday they abandonned the fetidval (no spelling mistake!)

I will be hear for a couple of days at least before we can be towed out.

If anyone has a sun spell to help rid this field of water then please help. This is the second muddiest festie I have been to, but the other one had at least put track down for people to walk and drive on.

Inshaalla as they say in Arabic.

Mud n’ stuff

Posted under Merlife & Travel & festivals

Firstly a huge thanks to Hutters for his superb efforts at the accoustic festival this last weekend. I was going to blog it but I cannot do it any more justice than Hutters did, except to say that Boss Hoss are booked for Guilfest which we are also doing!

I arrived at Sunrise Celebration in Somerset to a field of mud, or should I say, several fields of mud. I had to be towed by a big old truck to my pitxh which is right by the dance tent, so not a lot of sleep for us this weekend.

We have been joined for the gig by my son who has just arrived back from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia. He is now in the mood to have a craic in a field in Somerset.

I will post some pics as soon as the festie gets going, but in the mean time.

Inshaalla

And so it begins.

This blog is being written by Rosie:

We are parked at the back of our walk in stall having just eaten a local barn reared chicken carefully cooked on our new Cobb barbeque washed down with a vintage Sainsbugs red wine.   We arrived yesterday at destination Shepley and immediately made friends with our neighbours Sean, Heidi and their delightful daughter Amalie.  We attempted to erect the stall and then had to move it forward to line up with our new friends, which is when we discovered we could squeeze Mortimer in behind along with the trailer.  Result!!  We can now brew tea etc whenever we need to instead of having to walk half a mile to the campsite.  However I think we were being spied on, as before we knew it we were being commandeered to help move the stall of a lady who was trading in the indoor marquee. All hands and the job was done in a trice.

When we had finished erecting our stall we discovered we had left some vital elements vis a vis side sheets for the stall back in Grantham and decided to sleep on it for the night.  Friday morning and I had to go hunting sheets while Mermy continued with the setting up.  Luckily as I was motoring along towards the M1 I spied a wholesale warehouse with the necessary items and saved a round trip of approx 80 miles.

The rest of the day was spent unpacking stock, pricing items and finally selling to the public. It is now midnight and we are going to finish our wine and go to bed.

Love & Peace

ready set….

Posted under Uncategorized

That is what it feels like at the moment! Two day till Shepley Folk Festival and about three days work left to get ready for it. Rosie is being a brick whilst I do a couple of driving shifts to get the last pocket money in, Rosie is running round like a dervish getting everything done for the off. We ordered yet more bags today from Onya so that we have plenty of our favourite packable bags for the festies.

We are stocking Dump it Onya doggy doo bio bags, which are a little sack with 100 bio poo bags that will allow the bag to degrade and rot instead of mummifying the doggy doo like a plastic bag.  We have spent the day today getting all the stock down and loaded into the trailer.

We need to finish tomorrow morning before going to the post office to tax the Smart car that we have now sold, then we need to go food shopping for the next week, then Rosie has to go to Sleaford to pick up some Point of Sale material from one of our suppliers then we have to drive up to Shepley to be there for 6pm to get ready to start trading Friday……Fewwwww

Oh and I think I have a puncture in one of the trailer tyres so I will have to get that fixed before I go.

Love and peace Mermy and the future Mrs J

Oh Gosh

Posted under Technology

I should update my Wordpress to the latest edition, and I have saved all my blog entries and settings etc to both my laptop and to a memory stick just to be on the safe side.

So why am I so hesitant to update it? Could it be that every time I update blogging software or shop front software it all goes so horribly wrong and I end up spending two weeks trying to sort it out?

If there are any experts on updating blogging software without crashing and burning out there then please take me under your wing and help me through this traumatic time.

Love and Peace

Buffers for a while

Posted under Merlife

Rosie and I are back in the house for a while trying to get everything sorted out for our festival season. I for one am hating it and want to go off in the motorhome.

We had a day off from all the sorting and work today and spent a fab day in glorious warm sunshine at Belton House. My ma gave us a membership to the National Trust for Christmas and we took advantage of it to stroll in the fab grounds and look around the lovely house. Total cost if we were not members £19 total cost to us, free.

I was gobsmacked to see a big solid silver wine container thingy that weighed 1400 ozs and was given to Sir John Cust in the 1700’s as part of the payment of 4000 ozs of silver for getting re-elected as speaker of the house of Commons. Now that makes the John Lewis list look very tame!

Peace
